Casual DIY Romanian Wedding in Black and White with a Gipsy Band

I guess not many future brides and groom think about black as a nice color to use at a wedding. It is a beautiful colour though, that gives a classy touch, and combines really well with all things wood-based or DIY. I bet you’re now curious to see how it can look like? Good news, you just need to scroll down a bit to enjoy the amazing work this couple did for their wedding! The photographs were taken by the talented Rares of Rares Ion Photography, using only available light.

The wedding took place on August 23, 2014, in a village called Poiana lui Stanga, around 44 km away from Bucharest, Romania.
One of the most important ingredients of an open-air wedding is certainly the weather. But the weather forecast 24 hours before the event was gloomy: 60% chances of raining, thunderstorm and the whole deal, while for the morning of the wedding these chances rose to 85%.
And it did rain at 5 am in the morning. But the music was so good and the atmosphere so electrifying that nobody even noticed the rain. So the dance continued, disregarding the wet clothes.

Name one thing you regret…

Well, the only regret is not getting married earlier. Less hesitations, less questions, less cold feet, more action.

… And one thing that makes you proud.

Paper saved the party and it allowed us to make the space look spectacular at a very low cost. Origami black and white birds hanged over the table on invisible strings, the menus written by hand with a real rosemary leaf on the cover, the paper feathers that decorated the napkins, everything was simple and cool to look at.

Magali + Florent

Sweet French Wedding in Provence

Magali and Florent had a sweet wedding in Provence, a typical region of the South of France. I love the groom’s outfit and their beautiful tables (and I am definitely in love with those placemats!). Photography by Modern Hearts.

The wedding took place on the 7th of June 2014, in a typical Provençal “Mas”, in Arles in the South of France.
We wanted an authentic place in the middle of sunflower fields, olive trees and lavenders… Real surrounding for real story. We are 32 and 34 years old. We live in Antibes in the French Riviera in France, but we wanted to follow the french tradition, which is to get married into the bride’s family town. We met 5 years ago, and we have decided to have a baby first 2 years ago… So it was a wedding with our little daughter. It’s not very convenient but the symbolic was important for us. Our wedding was mostly composed of friends because we have a small family but we have many friends who came from all parts of France and they are so close for us that we consider them as family.

Regarding the wedding, name one thing you regret…
We regret that the time ran so fast. We had not enough time to spend with each guest who most of them came from far we live.

… And one thing that makes you proud.
Without any doubt, the non-religious celebration in open air !
We have totally delegated this part of our wedding to the bridesmaids and the best man.
They organised each moment, speeches, guests, the rings… We felt very touched by all the affection and love.

Dara + Willy

A Wedding All in White in the Canary Islands

Dara & Willy had a wonderful wedding at an isolated beach in La Graciosa, an island of the Canary Islands in Spain. They actually joined the place one day before to meet with their friends and get into the spirit. On the day of their wedding, the sun was shining, making everybody’s white clothes look even brighter, and creating a beautiful contrast with the blue of the sea and of the sky. Also, how could I not fall for this groom’s arrival on a boat? Photography by Pablo Béglez, out of Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands of Spain.

The wedding took place June 06, 2014, in La Graciosa, Lanzarote. From the bride:

There were a lot of anecdotes, I’d go with the song that Willy sang to me on my arrival and also my sister’s words during the ceremony. And although I couldn’t not be present for Willy’s arrival on that tiny boat I bet it was a big surprise to everyone.

Regarding the wedding, name one thing you regret…

The only thing we would change would be the dancing classes! Instead of rehearsing in parquet we should have done it in the sand. The dance was fun and the participation of Willy’s sons took everyone by surprise, but it’s true that it didn’t work out as we had planned.

… And one thing that makes you proud.

Something we are really proud of is the awesome atmosphere that was in the wedding. Everyone had a great time, from the kiddies to the elderly. Three days of celebration in an incredible place… A different wedding that hardly anyone will ever forget.
