Stylish Wedding by the Sea in Mexico

I have to say I rarely talk about the wedding dresses of the brides I feature. Not that I don’t like them (come on!!), it’s just that maybe there’s something else to focus on… I’ve learned to appreciate Jenny Packham dresses though, and the one Patrycja had on her wedding is one of the most fantastic I’ve ever seen. Really. And—as if it wouldn’t be enough—Joannis is one super elegant groom too, I just love his attire! Moreover, I am super happy to welcome another great photographer on the blog today, Fer Juaristi! So many reasons for you to check this out, right?

The wedding took place at the hotel Viceroy Riviera Maya.

26 guests. 4 days. Tropical paradise. Laughter, conversation, hugs, food, drinks, dancing, serendipitous events and lack of informalities and pretensions. It was only natural that our wedding would have this vibe and take place somewhere away from where we lived, preferably surrounded by nature. We booked the venue without having ever been there, and never looked back.

IT RAINED ON YOUR WEDDING DAY??? YES! Bouts of rain. And it was great. When it’s a warm and beautiful tropical paradise you’re in, rain only serves to highlight the beauty in the sky, clouds and foliage. We didn’t mind at all. The colours were absolutely gorgeous, and the rain did happen to stop for our ceremony and pictures.

Name one thing you regret…

Nothing, although our speeches could have been better (my guests know what I mean :P).

… And one thing you’re happy about/ proud of.

I couldn’t have been more happier and grateful to see both sets of parents on vacation, enjoying themselves. My family immigrated to Canada without much, and my parents have lived their whole lives working very hard for my sister and I, and so it was so good to see them relax.

Wonderful Farm Wedding in Texas

I am so thrilled to share those pictures with you today. First of all, as me, you’ll probably drool a little bit when going through these (and I promise I had to resign myself to leave tons of equally perfect pictures on my computer that couldn’t fit in this post). Second, rocking chairs, cowboy hats… this wedding just woke up the cowgirl inside me! And what about those Star Wars inspired cufflinks?? :-) Photography by Nirav Patel.

The word of the photographer.

It was absolutely an honor to photograph Shaun and Shannon’s intimate wedding in Texas. Shaun is a star wars loving, music playing, wedding photographer which means we’re practically the same person. All of our email exchanges ended with “may the force be with you”. Shannon is something else let me say… and I mean that in the best possible way. She’s incredibly sweet, down to earth, fun, and can definitely bust a move on the dance floor. The wedding was certainly everything they had hoped for it to be… a relaxed celebration with their closest family and friends.

Epic Ace Hotel Wedding with a Late Swimming Pool Party

I know I have blogged quite a few weddings and couples ending up in water lately, and no suspense here, this is one more… but isn’t a swimming pool wedding party kind of the perfect way to end the night? And wait, that’s not all – I am actually so in love with Justine and Brendon’s wedding: not only did they have so much fun partying in the swimming pool, but this couple also had a perfect venue for their wedding and an amazing setting, everything so well photographed by Nick Radford, out of the USA.

Justine and Brendon’s wedding took place in November 2012 at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. Both have a design background—he is an interior designer and she’s in the event industry—so they mostly organized their wedding themselves.

We wanted it to be different, yet fun that reflected our personalities. We had a handful of DIY projects that we incorporated into the wedding such as our ceremony backdrop and geometric card holders. I ended up designing all of our paper goods such as our save the dates, invitations and all of the signage throughout the wedding. It was a huge undertaking, but it was something I was determined to do! There were many times I wanted to give up and just hire a designer, but I knew it would be so worth it in the end. And it was!

Name one thing you regret…

Overall it was an amazing wedding – however, if I had to rewind back to the day, I wish I had more moments to just sit and talk with all of our friends and family, especially our family who traveled from afar. The day goes by so fast and you are definitely running on adrenaline the entire evening, so I just wish we had taken a step back and really braced the moment and graciously thanked everyone who made it out that day.

And one thing you’re really happy about/ proud of.

I am extremely happy that I was a stress-free bride the entire day! I did not worry about one thing. I felt so prepared, and so ready to marry my husband that everything else was just a big ol’ bonus to me. Oh, and I’m stoked that Nick & Jeff (photographer & videographer) suggested we jump in the pool to close out the festivities. It was never my intention to do this – but it just happened and it was SO perfect. The best way to end the night by far! Trashed dress and all!
