Jil + Jul

Super Fun French Wedding in Brittany

I’m so happy to share with you the wonderful and fun wedding of Jil and Jul. This wedding has it all: some really fun newly weds and guests, a beautiful decoration (I LOVE the contrast of the multicolor flowers with those white tables), entertainment, and the key ingredient – some really stunning pictures! Photography by Benjamin Le Du out of France.

The wedding took place on August 22, 2014 in Brittany, France (Querrien and Pont Aven to be precise).

We’ve been together for 11 years and Julien proposed to me during a trip to the Rodrigues Island we made last year to celebrate our 10 years together. We started the day with some snorkeling in a turquoise water; the skipper stopped us on a little desert island called the cat Island. We were walking around when Julien made his proposal: He took a photo of us two, but had previously placed the engagement ring beside my neck; then when I looked at what the picture had given I saw it! I say Yes, of course. We were both shaking like a leaf… It was perfect!

Name one thing you regret…

The bride: That I didn’t serve the oignon soup!… long story. Do not hesitate to delegate, but take some time before the wedding to organize everything and be able to give every piece of information needed. This helps a lot on the D day (and the D-1 day).

The groom: That I didn’t dance a lot. I spent a lot of time outside with the non-dancers. We had a very intimate wedding, we could afford to spend some time with each and everyone of our guests, but still, we can’t be everywhere at the same time, and it’s normal.

And one thing that makes you happy or proud.

We aren’t very organised people, and planning this wedding was a challenge. We are very proud we did all the decoration ourselves, the aperitive, the bouqet, the favours, the invitations and save the date. We also worked the whole year on the playlists – no DJ but a computer and 2 good speakers!
Second, our surprise dance at the city hall!!
But one thing’s for sure, if we were to do it again, we wouldn’t change a thing!

Dasha + Lesha

“Shades of Summer” – Russian Fairytale Wedding

The wedding of Dasha and Lesha is a true fairytale. From the design of their wedding to the pictures, when I first took a look at this reportage I felt like I was 10 again immersed in the Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Except this is no Alice in Wonderful wedding theme; it’s the own couple’s universe, created for the very purpose of their day. I have no doubt it’ll have the same effect on you, and though I would like to comment on every moment of their day that was captured, I’m not gonna spoil this one, and all I’m gonna say is: Enjoy! Photography by Olga Plakitina, out of Russia.

The word of the organising team.

Some brides want for their wedding bright, juicy shades; many dream of romantic pastel pink, some need a muted pale blue, while others cannot live without the pristine white. But Dasha wanted a completely different palette for their day, filled with only expressive, deep shades of summer. As for our team, we think it worked! Color determines the individuality of a person, fills their aura, gives the necessary feeling pleasing the eye. Dasha and Alex will remain sunny – yellow, smiling and family. We have tried to make as much expressive living elements for the design of their celebration: ripe pears and apples on the tables, iridescent vases for flowers, candles and colored motley sweets. The impression that everything is happening at the front porch of a small garden, home and family, summer and languishing in the heat of the natural area.

Cynthia + Arnaud

A Couple Shoot at an Abandoned Area Close to Paris

Jean-Laurent Gaudy, the author of this series of pictures is one of my favorite French photographer. We got to physically meet last November, and he and his lovely wife Caroline (who owns a blog at littlecrazyme.com) quickly became friends. A few weeks ago, he was looking for a couple for the one-to-one session he was going to have with Willy Brousse and kindly thought about Marcio and I. I was back then 8 and a half months pregnant, hence maybe not his best option, but my sister and brother-in-law (whose wedding you may remember) volunteered and I have to say that when I saw the result, I felt quite jealous! I couldn’t resist showing you a little extract, I hope you’ll like it as much as I do!

As I said before, those pictures were taken by Jean-Laurent Gaudy; he’s currently living close to Paris, but is leaving us to start a new adventure with Caroline in New York City. I couldn’t but recommend him if you or your friends are looking for a photographer there: he’s nice, takes good pictures AND has a lovely french accent!

Here’s about this session from my sister’s point of view.

I have to say Arnaud wasn’t all motivated at first – he even told our friends he was doing this for me! But then the day arrived, we met with Jean-Laurent and Willy and felt so comfortable that what Arnaud thought was going to be an effort ended up being one very nice moment we had for just the two of us, without the kids: we had fun, we cuddled (!) and spent time with lovely people… And well, I guess you can imagine our reaction when we actually saw the result!! As for me, as I told my sister, I liked Jean-Laurent and Willy so much I wish we were actual friends!
