Camilla + Pierre-Antoine

A Pink Pastel Dress for a Retro Wedding in Milano with the Best Wedding Hairstyle Ever

Camilla and Pierre-Antoine are such a cool couple! Not only do they both look stunning (ok, especially Camilla – I don’t know what the girl’s been doing with her hair but I want it for myself!!) but I also loved what they shared about the organisation of their wedding. I really encourage you to read their story, which I have to admit, reminded me a bit of our own wedding – especially for the drunk-too-soon part (except that I don’t regret it, HA!). Photos were taken by Bianco Photography, based in London UK.

The wedding took place on May 10, 2014 in Milan Italy. From the bride.

I’m Italian and he is French so the main issues were wine, food and the big dilemma: champagne or prosecco? In the end I won and it was all pure Italian :).
We did not want to have a traditional wedding, we strongly believe that the real commitment is the one you take in front of your family and friends.. not by signing some stupid paper. Our best friend Michele performed the ceremony, we had three best men each and I also had 2 additional bridesmaid. During the ceremony they all said something personal about us and then we exchanged our wedding bands.
Our cake was a dark chocolate one with raspberries everywhere.
We have a very peculiar music taste. We hired a rockabilly band. All the music from the “apero” until 2AM was pure American rock and roll from the 50s.

Name on thing you regret…

The only thing I regret is that I was not able to fully enjoy this moment. I was too stressed checking if people were having fun. I was also a bit drunk too soon. :)

… And one thing that makes you proud.

1) As per the food, we decided to keep it simple and this choice paid out.
All tables (just 3 long tables) were set but there was no service at the table.
2) Every time I went to wedding I ran out of cigarettes. For this reason, we bought a big box of Marlboro Lights and put cigarettes everywhere. People loved it.

The word of the photographer.

I first met Camilla and Pierre-Antoine in a little lovely pub here in London: they both live and work here, and I immediately felt they could have been rather friends than clients to me. Their wedding was exactely like them: classy and wonderful. Villa Necchi was a stunning location in the heart of Milan, and I was totally raptured by the Villa’s indoor. The whole party was perfectly set up by MADA, AFM banqueting and Faglioni Wedding, and liven up by the amazing band The Shakers – best 50s and 60s band ever! I feel so incredibly honoured to had the chance being at their side in such a wonderful day indeed.

Maren + Henry

A Winter Wedding in Red Black and White

Maren and Henry had quite an untraditional wedding: they got married in Winter on Valentine’s day (wishing for some snow that unfortunately didn’t come!), Maren had a red, black and white dress and all guests were wearing matching colours. Their first dance was a Waltz – which was quite unexpected given the overall tone of their day! I really liked that they managed to have a wedding that doesn’t look like anybody else’s, and the venues are fantastic! Photography by Marta Urbanelis out of Germany.

The wedding took place on Valentine’s day, February 14th, 2014. The ceremony was held at the Festung Mark, some kind of old fortress with red bricks, high ceilings and great arcs; the reception took place at a restaurant called Die Kirche (literally, The Church), located in an old church building.
When we announced our wedding, we were frequently asked why the wedding had to take place in winter. Everyone feared to freeze. But finally the weather was perfect. (sunshine, 14°C, blue sky) – maybe even better than on some days in June. Although we wished for some snow – which would have met our colour scheme of black and white with red highlights – we were happy about the weather as it was.
Tthe day before our wedding we decided to prepare a candy bar for our guests. Therefore we bought little cupcakes, maccarones and cakepops next to other sweets which we had to pick up at Tigertörtchen in Berlin (approx. 130 km from Magdeburg). We usually need about one hour to get there, but on this day it took about 2 hours and on the way back even more. This shifted our whole timetable for this day which included meeting Marta, the Dj, decorating the restaurant , reparing my finger nail (which broke off two days before) and baking Cakes. So things got pretty tight. We had to hand down the decoration of the restaurant to friends. Later that day we got a call from our friends that some pieces of the decorations broke. So we had to buy some new pieces . As if there wasn’t enough to do already…
I think you noticed that we did not want very much of a traditional wedding. I did not want to wear a pure white dress and we wanted our guests to wear our colours. Accordingly we have chosen music we love for our first dance. ( Music was from the Band “Schandmaul” -Song: “Dein Anblick” ) Funnily enough, we have chosen a song to which we had to dance a waltz. Pretty traditional – isn’t it? ;-)

Name one thing you regret…

We thought long about that question and really can say: we don’t regret anything. We’re somehow sad about the fact, that there is no video of our first dance. But that is something we can surely live with ;-)

… And one thing you’re really happy about/ proud of.

We are very proud of our time scheduling. There always was enough time for everthing. So we did not get in a hurry. We just made a rough estimation of the scheduling and did not plan every single minute of the day.
Our recommendation for the brides & grooms would be: not to leave the guests alone for too long (maybe have the photo shoot before the guests arrive)  and to have some highlights to entertain the guests (for example: candybar, photobooth, juggler, dancer).

The word of the photographer.

I love to travel and I’ve got the opportunity to photograph this special black and white wedding on Valentine’s day in Magdeburg. Maren and Henry had their first look at the wedding ceremony place in the mark fortressAfter that, we took some couple pictures in the center of Magdeburg and after 2 hours we came back to the fortress to get them married :) The wedding reception was held in an old church, which has now been converted into a mystic restaurant: Die Kirche.

Johanna + Gesche

Sweet Pink Lesbian Wedding with a DIY Pink Wedding Dress

To be honest, I wanted to show this wedding from the moment we started developing this website (I think nobody knows about that, but some pictures of Johanna and Gesche were already up on the blog, way before we went live!). I think these brides are beautiful and there’s so much emotion in every picture!… Besides, when the pink blooming cherry trees in the street just perfectly match the brides’ outfit, that makes some seriously fabulous wedding pictures (and apparently, I am not the only one to feel that way – just take a look at Johanna and Gesche’s memories of that day). Photos by 2 Brides Photography out of Sweden.

Johanna and Gesche’s wedding took place last year in Stockholm, Sweden. Their sweet couple pictures were taken in a park called Kungsträdgården. From the brides:

We wanted to keep this wedding simple, focusing on the spring that was happening all around us and each other. Gesche made her dress herself as well as her headpiece, and we both tried not to make a big deal out of the City Hall ceremony but when the day came it felt like “woah, okay, this is big!” and we both felt that we were so completely in the right place in every way for the commitment we were about to make. It is funny and strange to think how many pictures of us from that day ended up in total strangers’ cameras and smartphones; people all around us were taking pictures of us during the short hour or so we were there! It was crazy.

Name one thing you regret.

Can’t actually think of anything we regret from that day! It was a day full of love, however soppy that may sound, and in the evening we got to spend time with friends and went bowling and ate good food. Simple but great.

And one thing you’re really happy about/ proud of.

We were very satisfied with how everything came together in the end, from our dresses to our bouquets that Gesche’s mother insisted we have and bought for us, and we are happy that she did because what is a wedding without flowers?
